Allgreen's Year in Sustainability: 2026

Natural stone is often called the original green building material. It's formed by nature rather than manufactured, and once it's laid, it can last for generations. As natural stone suppliers, that matters to us, and we like to think we're all green in more ways than one.

For us, sustainability isn't something you achieve once and then put on a shelf. It's a set of choices we make every day in our yard, and choices we'll keep making as we hold ourselves accountable and look for better ways to work. That's why, starting this year, we're publishing an annual round-up of our sustainability work. It covers what we've achieved, what we've learned and, just as importantly, the goals we're setting for the year ahead.

Here's how 2026 looked at Allgreen.

2026 in numbers

  • 40 tonnes of offcuts crafted into new ranges rather than sent to landfill.

  • 11% of all stone waste processed in our yard, given a second life.

  • 310 tonnes of masonry waste donated to local farmers for tracks and barn bases.

  • 20 tonnes of etching waste reused as infill sand and bedding for cables and pipes.

  • 3 new products made from offcuts: our Harewood, Carisbrooke and Windsor Pitchers (coming to our website soon!)

  • 3 farms and partners who helped us put our byproducts to use.

  • Carbon Balanced and FSC paper chosen for all our printed literature going forward.

our highlights

Next week, we’re launching Harewood, Carisbrooke and Windsor Pitchers

Harewood, Windsor and Carisbrooke Pitchers

This year we’re adding three unique stone blends to our collection, all crafted from upcycled stone offcuts that would otherwise have gone to waste. Harewood, Carisbrooke and Windsor Pitchers bring the rugged character of traditional walling and cobbles to feature gardens, building facades & retaining wall cladding, while giving good stone a second life. Keep an eye on our website for the launch on the 13th of October at FutureScape.

A new home for our sustainability story

We launched a dedicated sustainability page on our website, bringing every part of our approach together in one place. It follows our stone through its whole life, from the ranges made from offcuts to the byproducts that find a purpose beyond stone, all built on one promise: nothing leaves our yard as waste.

Growing our waste-made collection

Every new range we craft from offcuts helps to build on what makes natural stone a responsible choice in the first place. Unlike concrete and porcelain, it needs no energy-hungry kilns or synthetic processes, and its durability means it rarely needs replacing. For the full picture, read our guide to the most environmentally friendly paving.

Partnerships beyond our industry

Maldon Shell Blend remains one of our proudest examples of cross-industry thinking. It combines our walling offcuts with cockle shells, a byproduct of the fishing industry, turning two waste streams into one characterful product. Similarly, our masonry stone waste is donated to local farmers, who put it to work as field access tracks and barn sub-bases, keeping it in use, not in a skip.

Finding a use for everything else

When stone can't become a new range, we look further afield. We etch our stone using compressed air and recycled glass, and the waste from that process is reused as infill sand and as bedding for cables and pipes.

Choosing responsible paper

Our commitment doesn't stop at stone. We're now committed to moving all our printed literature to Carbon Balanced and FSC-certified paper, starting with our stone selectors.

Where we can do better

We're proud of this year's progress which is vital steps forward in our Sustainability Commitment, but we know there's so much more to do. Our focus is investing in developing & creating design-led format products from offcuts, so that less of the stone we work ever comes close to being wasted.

Looking ahead to 2027

Next year, we're focusing on:

  • Expanding our range of locally & ethically sourced organic formats

  • Establishing new collaboration partnerships and markets

  • Focusing on our plan to convert 95% of waste to usable format

We'll report back on each of them in next year's round-up.

Thank you

Every customer who chooses a range made from offcuts, every designer who specifies reclaimed or upcycled stone, and every partner who considers our byproducts for their projects helps us to strengthen every link in the chain. This progress belongs to you as much as to us.
